Due to the continued and increasing prevalence of Covid-19 in New Orleans, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office will remain closed to the public through at least Aug. 31, DA Leon Cannizzaro announced Friday (July 24).

While closed to the public, the OPDA’s office is performing essential services only with a restricted set of employees. These include representing the state in limited court proceedings being held by video conference, including bond settings, arraignments and the entering of pleas as scheduled by the court.

A duty ADA (assistant district attorney) is assigned to assist the public with questions via telephone each Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Calls are answered during these hours at (504) 822-2414.
