An Orleans Parish grand jury on Thursday (Jan. 30) indicted a New Orleans teen as an adult for an attempted murder in the 9th Ward last October, District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro’s office announced.

Bradli Brown, 16, is charged with the attempted second-degree murder of a 31-year-old woman who was shot near the intersection of St. Claude Avenue and Lesseps Street on Oct. 14, 2019. The shooting was reported at 6:10 p.m.

The woman was shot while walking with her son and nephew in the 4300 block of St. Claude Avenue, shortly after encountering Brown.

The woman’s son told New Orleans police he was involved in an ongoing dispute with Brown, and that Brown fled on a New Orleans Blue Bike after the shots were fired. The victim received emergency treatment at University Medical Center and survived a gunshot wound to her left leg.

Police recovered video surveillance evidence that captured the shooting and the gunman, and located witnesses who identified Brown as the assailant. NOPD crime lab technicians recovered five spent 9mm bullet casings from the scene.

Assistant District Attorney Sarah Dawkins presented the case to the grand jury.
